The BMAA is a non profit, non sponsored group aimed at bringing together those interested in keeping local marine life in aquaria replicating natural environment as much as is possible.

The original BMAA was formed in the mid 1970s for those interested in keeping marine life from our local shores
in dedicated marine aquaria - the group at that time communicated via newsletters and bulletins as
internet usage was in its infancy and not like we know it today.
By the mid 90s the association ceased to operate, possibly due communication difficulties but this is unknown,
there were during this time in excess of 100 members.
Our aim is to bring together all those with an enthusiasm for keeping native marines surrounding the British and Irish coastline.
If you are reading this then it it highly likely you already keep local marines or are interested in doing so in the future
